i was watching the news earlier this evening, and there was a very disturbing report about how school kids are goading each other into starting fights in the playground, then filming the fights on their mobile phone.
the film is then uploaded on to an internet fight site, and viewers are invited to rate the fights for level of violence.
the main site is hosted from california, or so the report said, but others are feared to be springing up around the world.
It sounds like the typical 'sky-is-falling' stories the media love to run during sweeps(May and November). Like the ones a couple years ago about the kids wearing the charm bracelets that indicated they were looking for sex, and what kind. Sure....
One TV station here had an alarming story on the dangers of nerf-gun fights.
And of course, since most parents have zero interaction with their kids these days, they have no idea whether they should believe these stories or not.

i just opened the entertainment section of the la daily news and it had a blurb about prince.
the titled was "prince the pioneer".
it was actually about him receiving some lifetime acheivement award.
But he does go door-to-door. Prince lives here in the Twin Cities, and a couple years ago there was an item in the paper about some woman in Eden Prairie who got called on one Sunday afternoon by Symbolina, offering the latest issues of the Watchtower and Awake. She was a little surprised, but mostly annoyed since she was trying to watch the Vikes.

but as i write this the question has come to mind of what ancient evidence constitutes verifiable, believable evidence that we can take to the bank?
we have the nt and the apocrypha, ancient texts that tell a story of the early christians.
So since Jesus' followers were persecuted, that means Christianity must be the right religion? What about Islam, Mormons, Bahá'í, etc? Members of all these groups have been a persecuted minority at one time or another... therefore they must all have the truth!
And Shining One, quit splitting hairs, millions of "non-believers" have been slaughtered in the name of Christ. Whether he actually gave the command or not is immaterial. And besides, Jesus is pictured as leading in army in the NT, "cleansing" the earth. Some of his followers are just eager to get the job done.

the spin on downsizing is apparently "go out into the field" yet when the gb initially considered this it must have been presented as a practical problem - too much surplus hr capacity/ too expensive to maintain - or whatever and yet they turned it into a positive matter by stressing the return to the field - all those in such discussions are clearly able to deceive themselves as much as they try and deceive the "flock" - what do you think - did a discussion on a practical problem have to have a positive outcome and how did they twist their minds so as to sell it as such - for years they begged people to stay in bethel service (make it your home for life) and now they cast them out into the world with the thin veneer of "speedin g up the preaching work .. etc".
all those at the top must have been involved in turning this huge embarrasment (jehovah will provide etc) into a positive spin - they should try out for a marketing award "downsizing - the only way to grow!
but there is a new young gullible generation who does not know what went on to be duped out of their life and soul.
Hopefully with the rise of the Internet and the increasingly dated message/methods of the Borg, the new young generation will not be so gullible...

Incorrect. Most states now use driver registration records to find potential jurors. I know several JWs who have been summoned to jury duty, including myself(before I ever registered to vote) and my mother-in-law.

the new members, anthony morris and geoffrey w jackson .
both are men believed to be in their fifties who joined bethel in 2002 or 2006. they both came from the the "nethanim class" of helpers to the gb .. * w92 4/15 p. 31 announcement ***therefore it has been decided to invite several helpers, mainly from among the great crowd, to share in the meetings of each of the governing body committees, that is, the personnel, publishing, service, teaching, and writing committees.
Where are you people getting your info from? No one on the GB is "non-anointed." Not all of the Nethinim were of the "other sheep".
I have no doubt that some of these men realized as they were climbing the Watchtower ladder, that the only way to make it to the top rung was to be of the 'anointed' class. So, what do you do, you start quietly partaking of the emblems, with as little fanfare as possible. If it works, well then you keep on partaking as you are promoted to CO, DO, etc.
I am sure all these new GB members have been partaking for at least a couple decades, and apparently it has paid off.

Remember a sister cannot keep her maiden name and if she has/does, the brothers will still call on her, "Sister Husbandslastname."
The only story I ever heard on this topic was a case where a woman got married and kept her name, the elders of course were in a tizzy, so they called Bethel and asked what to do. They were told to leave her alone and that it was none of their business.
Just a story, not sure where I heard it or if there is any truth to it.
